As the Assistant Director in the Einhorn Center for Community Engagement, Jake oversees Cornell’s Engaged College Initiative. Through his work with faculty and administrators in each of the colleges across Cornell, Jake works to expand opportunities for students to engaged with local community partners in their coursework, research, and co-curricular opportunities. In 2023, Jake received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, where his research focused on institutional inequality in higher education and its impact on community-engaged learning and university community partnerships. Jake’s passion for this work stems from his own undergraduate experience in Philadelphia, and international work in El Salvador supporting community-based study abroad for U.S. and Salvadoran students. Apart from his work, Jake is thrilled to be back in New York to further explore the outdoor wonders of Ithaca and spend time upstate in the Adirondacks where he enjoys hiking, fly-fishing, and adventuring with his partner Katie and border collie, Skye.
