Gemma Rodrigues is the Ames Director of Education and Curator of the Global Arts of Africa at the Johnson Museum of Art, where she oversees campus, pre-K-12, and public programs as well as curatorial research into African art.

She was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe and has since lived and worked on three continents as a curator, educator, and arts administrator. Gemma is passionate about the role university museums play in bringing arts-related research to the broadest possible audience, and she has a keen interest in the intersections among art, politics, and questions of equity in a global context. In her spare time, she enjoys reading new fiction from around the world, expanding her culinary repertoire, and exploring local trails and waterways with her family and German Shepit rescue pup.
