Makana Tavepholjalern

URF Makana

Makana is a senior in the School of Hotel Administration.  He is from Honolulu Hawaii and came back to Cornell after a leave of absence working in residential real estate/sales, taking classes at the University of Hawaii for transfer credit and completing a massage therapy program at Kapiolani Community College.  Within the broad, people oriented industry of hospitality, Makana is interested in its intersection with health, healthcare and wellness.  His interests include geology, beekeeping, la’au lapa’au, hula, massage and ASL. At Cornell, Makana has worked as a culinary TA for HADM 2360 Food Service Management and as an ASL tutor also holding weekly ASL chat hours.  He has enjoyed the experiences and relationships gained at Becker, and looks forward to meeting many of the wonderful people that come to Cornell.
